The scheme is introduced with a view to develop national consciousness and a sense of responsibility among the students. It provides the students with opportunities to devote their leisure time to the service of the nation. The membership is open to all students. 50 students will be enrolled as volunteers for each unit. Those volunteers who complete social service work under the scheme for 240 hours during two academic years will be awarded a certificate by the University of Kerala
